JIT report on Sahiwal case presented to CM

LAHORE: The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on Sahiwal killing case presented its report to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar here on Thursday.
Sources claimed that the JIT declared driver Zeeshan guilty and Khalil’s family innocent. The JIT also recommended action against the cops of CTD who conducted the operation. The JIT could not find any evidence from inside the vehicle.
The JIT report says Zeeshan’s cellphone was full of suspicious messages of suspected people. The JIT declared the act of killing of Khalil’s family an extra-judicial killing as they could be saved in the operation.
Man, son suffocated: A man and his two-year old son were suffocated in smoke after a fire broke out in a house due to short circuit in Shahdra Town police limits here on Thursday.
Imran, 33, and his son Ayyan of Majeed Park were sleeping when a fire erupted at adjoining house due to short circuit.
Rescuers reached the scene and controlled the fire, but poisonous smoke caused the death of the minor boy and his father. Valuables were also gutted in the fire. Police collected evidence and handed over the bodies to the victims’ family.
SUICIDE: A 32-year-old man committed suicide over being jobless by jumping in front of a train in the Ghalib Market police limits.
Police handed over the body to the victim’s family after completing legal formalities.The victim has been identified as Abdul Ghafoor. He jumped in front of Lahore-Karachi bound train. As a result, he died on the spot.
24 arrested: Federal Investigation Agency on Thursday conducted a major crackdown on human smugglers and arrested 24 persons, including 10 proclaimed offenders.
It is learnt that an FIA team arrested 24 persons, including 10 POs. The names of the POs are: Asghar Ali, Imran Khan, Muhammad Akram , Muhammad Akram Javed, Nisar Ahmed, Pervaiz, Mubashar Akram , Muhammad Tariq, Qadir Bakhsh and Muhammad Akhtar.
The other arrested accused are: Muhammad Ijaz, Asim Baber, Sadiq Ali, Tanzeelur Rehman, Muhammad Sehgal, Jannat Ahmed, Muhammad Shareef, Muhammad Ali Qadri, Wafa Abbas, Asif Nadeem, Qamar Abbas, Zahid Khaliq, Maqsood Ahmed and Kamal Khan.
Meanwhile, FIA registered cases against two persons, Syed Aamir Hussain and Muhammad Azam, after both arrived at the Lahore airport after being deported from Germany.
PHP: A meeting was held in the Central Police Office to review the performance during the month of January 2019. Additional IG Punjab Highway Patrol issued various instructions for improving the performance.
He said that effective steps should be taken to prevent crimes against the commuters. Regional and district supervisory officers leave the offices to make PHP work more meaningful by briefing and checking the personnel. He stressed to respond on time to the call of accidents, incidents and helps.
