PTI’s experts to finalise draft constitution of party on March 1
ISLAMABAD: The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf constitution review process enters final stage and proposed draft has been placed on the official website of the party for critical feedback from the cadres.
PTI Central Secretary General Arshad Dad has constituted a sub-committee to finalise the draft of PTI constitution. The 21-member committee, including parliamentarians and representation from all walks of life including women and youth, will meet on March 1 in Islamabad.
The committee is delegated with the responsibility to review the proposed draft of the constitution. The draft document encapsulates the procedures of appointments of the party officials and the method of award of tickets for National, Provincial and Local Government elections.
The draft constitution also illustrates the method of election of the chairman of the party and all other offices, at all tiers. A comprehensive interpretation of the disciplinary action over violation of party discipline is also a part of the proposed draft of the constitution. The criterions of joining or leaving the party are also explained. The procedure to amend the constitution and incorporate new clauses also given in the proposed draft.
Workers and officials of the party from across the country have been encouraged to send the feedback which will be taken into consideration during the forthcoming Constitution Review Committee (CRC) meeting and Urdu translation of the proposed draft is also prepared which will facilitate workers’ comprehension of the party’s constitution.
Meanwhile, PTI Information Secretary Omar Sarfraz Cheema said that Agha Siraj Durrani must resign after having been arrested by the NAB. Cheema, in a statement, has demanded resignation from Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani following his arrest by the National Accountability Bureau. He termed PPP’s response over the arrest unjustified.
“National Accountability Bureau is an independent institution and the process of impartial accountability is moving forward,” he said and added that it was need of the hour to hold those elements accountable who plundered this nation.
Slamming PPP, he said that it must stop backing corrupt elements and refrain from intimidating state institutions.
