Hum Aik Hain wins applause
LAHORE: A six-day-long patriotic play titled “Hum Aik Hain” at Alhamra Art Centre, The Mall, concluded Monday with the objective to promote the message of patriotism, peace, patience, honesty, harmony, and sacrifices. The play was written and directed by senior TV and stage actor Pervaiz Raza.
The cast included Pervaiz Raza, Zafar Irshad, Saba Raza, Waheed Butt, Amaanullah, Mujtaba Shaikh, Shahzain Haider, Laila Siddiqui, Sheeza Khan, Shahid Iqbal, Afroz Khan and others.
The play depicted a story of four friends who were trapped in greed net by the anti-state powers. They were involved in anti-state activities for the sake of money, but when they realised what they were doing three out of the four quitted the activities for good, but one among them decided to keep walking on the path of anti-state and violence activities.
In the last scene of the drama his father (Pervaiz Raza) came to know about the satanic activities of his son (Afroz Khan), his conscious made a decision in a fraction of a second. He took his gun aimed it and pierced the heart of his son with a bullet. Without shedding a droplet from his eye the father said, traitors like you deserve worse than that and I am ashamed that I could only manage an easy death for you. I being a Pakistani played my tiny role in the mighty anti-terrorist campaigns like Radd-ul-Fasad and Zarb-e-Azb. The actors performed very well especially the last scene of the drama got a huge round of applause.
The drama organised by the Lahore Arts Council attracted a large gathering of theatre lovers. The purpose of this drama was to boost the assurance of families towards the concept of healthy theatre drama and cultural activities in Alhamra. Lahore Arts Council staged this drama for the audience with free entry to entertain the patriotic theatre lovers.
Lahore Arts Council Executive Director Ather Ali Khan said the drama was the one of the efforts made by Lahore Arts Council for the promotion of serious theatre and to promote the message of love for the country, peace and harmony in society. He stressed that such activities would be held on regular basis in Alhamra as we want to create a fresh room for theatre audience.
