PESHAWAR: A construction company owned by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Amir Muqam on Friday filed a contempt of court petition against the officials of National Highway Authority (NHA) for non-compliance with court orders.
M/S AM and Company (AMC), through its manager operation Zia, filed a contempt of court petition against the officials of NHA for non-compliance with court orders restraining them from the recovery of Rs152.8 million from the company till disposal of the petition.
The petition was filed through Barrister Syed Mudassir Ameer. The NHA officials and secretary Ministry of Communications were named contemnors in the petition.
The petition stated that the high court on January 31, 2019, passed an order in the writ petition of the petitioner company, retraining the respondent officials of NHA from the recovery of Rs152.85 million from the company till next order. The high court also issued a notice to the respondents to submit a reply in the case. It was also submitted in the petition that the court asked the petitioner that the money should be submitted at the PHC branch of the Bank of Khyber (BoK) as guarantee till decision in the petition.
However, the petitioner claimed that despite court orders, the NHA officials were pressuring the BoK’s Mingora branch officials to encash the petitioner’s bank guarantee to them.
