SHOs reprimanded over poor performance

LAHORE: DIG Operations Muhammad Waqas Nazir has directed the acting SP of Iqbal Town division police to individually monitor the performance of SHOs of different police stations and submit a comprehensive report to him.

Chairing a meeting held to review performance of Iqbal Town division police on Friday, he expressed his displeasure over the poor performance of SHOs with regard to not meeting the target of arresting the proclaimed offenders of B category.

Muhammad Waqas Nazir said that the SHOs of all the police stations of Lahore had been provided with the lists of B category proclaimed offenders. He said that crime in the City could only be controlled by arresting them.

Strict action will also be taken against the SHOs who would not improve their performance, the DIG Operations said and directed all the SDPOs to visit their respective police stations on a daily basis and monitor the performance of SHOs.

The SHOs of most of the police stations were reprimanded by the DIG Operations for their poor performance. The DIG directed the SDPOs and SHOs to initiate an immediate grand operation against the proclaimed offenders, target offenders, drug peddlers and gamblers. He also directed the police officers to behave politely with their subordinates as well as with the citizens.

child recovered: Shahdra police on Friday recovered a 6-year-old boy who was kidnapped by a woman. Victim Abubakar was kidnapped when he was playing a street. Incharge Investigation Nasir Hameed arrested accused Kiran at Maqbara Morr and recovered the child.

Five injured: Five persons suffered injuries when a rickshaw collided with a van in the City Raiwind police area on Friday. Rescue 1122 removed the victims, including the rickshaw driver, Rehan, to hospital. Police have started a legal action.

Haj duty: A lucky draw for non-gazetted staff of Punjab Police was held on Friday to choose the officials for Haj duty. Thirty-five officials were selected for Hajj duty while 10 more officials were selected through lucky draw so that they could be sent for Haj duty in case of rejection of the people from the winners.

The draw was held under the supervision of Additional IGP Establishment Ejaz Shah at Central Police Office. Punjab DIG Establishment Zubair Dreshak, AIG Operations Awais Malik, AIG Admin Asad Sarfraz were also present. The lists of the non-gazetted staff across Punjab were sought two months ago.
