By our correspondent
LANDIKOTAL: The Shinwari elders on Monday condemned the throwing of stones at Khassadars during a protest against power cuts in Landikotal.
Speaking at a press conference at the Landikotal Press club, elders of Shinwari tribe, Malik Misal Khan, Malik Khitab Gul, Baraat Shah and (Retd) Subedar Malik Khanadar said that Khassadar and Levies personnel had rendered sacrifices to restore peace in the tribal belt.
They said they would not back any violent protest that would lead to unrest in the area. Regarding aerial firing by the Khassadar and Levies personnel, they said that they had fired warning shots in defense but they said they did not support the act which created fear in the masses.
It may be mentioned that Khassadar and Levies personnel had fired warning shots to break the protest as the protesters had blocked Pak-Afghan Highway in protest against power outages in Landikotal on Sunday.
