Provincial Minister for Minorities Affairs and Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sindhu has said that there is a need to promote national thinking to make Pakistan a haven of peace, harmony and brotherhood.
He was addressing a national conference on the inter-religious harmony arranged by Federal Ministry for Religious Affairs at a local hotel on Wednesday. Khalil Tahir Sindhu said that collective efforts were needed to establish such a society which was known for peace and religious harmony. He said the personal interests should be set aside and national thinking should be promoted while practical measures should be taken for elimination of sectarianism, terrorism and social prejudices. He said that all the religions should give a message of respect to humanity and its welfare.
Later, participants signed a joint declaration and raised their hands to display unity and solidarity.
Laws being flouted: President PPP Central Punjab Mian ManzoorAhmed Wattoo said the present government had created an atmosphere of might was right and the laws were being flouted with impunity by the powerful without fear of legal consequences.
He paid a visit to the native village of late Rana Khalid Abbas, Shakhiawan, and Changa of Irfan Chohan, young advocate, to extend his deep condolences on behalf of Chairman Bilawal Bhuttoo, Co-Chairman Asef Ali Zardari and on his own behalf who were murdered by a Punjab police inspector three days ago.
Later, President PPP Punjab met Deska Bar members and said the PPP high command and the party shared their grief on the loss of their two honorable members of the Bar.
He said the government machinery and the rulers were in the forefront in ridiculing and undermining the laws because of their discriminatory application to the Punjab province in particular. Ha added the Punjab government’s reluctance not to publish the Judicial Commission report on the Model Town incident explicitly suggested that they were held responsible to the heinous crime of murdering 14 innocent people and injuring more than 90. He added that instead they got themselves exonerated through the Joint Investigation Report (JIT) that the people were not prepared to accept because the people of the country saw the Punjab police terrorism on TV screens.
He added that during his CMship, he appointed Nasir Khan Durrani as SP Sheikhupura and Sialkot to eliminate dacoits who were recklessly after the lives and properties of the people.
