The Punjab Chief Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif paid a surprise visit to the Metro Bus Station at Pak Secretariat, Islamabad on Tuesday and issued strict directions to the executing company for completing it at the earliest.
The chief minister was accompanied by the Chairman Implementation Sub Committee of MBP and Project Director of the project, Commissioner Rawalpindi, Zahid Saeed besides other concerned officials including the contractors.
Showing concern over delay in the inauguration of the project, Shahbaz Sharif directed the related contractor to expedite work on it, enabling the authorities to launch the services of Metro Bus services in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
This is the fifth surprise visit of the chief minister to the metropolitan cities including Islamabad and Rawalpindi in less than two weeks. Due to his consecutive visits to the sister cities, the authorities in the city district government as well as the contractors of their packages expedited work on the project. In the meantime, ‘The News’ learnt through credible sources that not only the Punjab chief minister is concerned over pace of work but even Prime Minister, Mian Nawaz Sharif has taken notice over the non completion of the project. The sources told that the prime minister expressed his concern with the Punjab Chief Minister on Monday and directed him to get the pace of work further expedited enabling them to launch the project in the best interest of the people.
