Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Chief Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday.
Matters of mutual interest, political situation and other affairs were discussed during the meeting.
According to a handout, speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said the country was passing through a critical phase of history and the need of unity in this situation had increased much before. He said the government was taking along all political parties due to which matters of national importance were being resolved amicably. He said that sincere and serious steps were being taken towards the right direction for coping with the challenges. The chief minister said the terrorists had been hit hard by the Pak army through operation Zarb-e-Azb and vigorous implementation on the National Action Plan. He said the terrorism and extremism would be eliminated through the power of unity of the nation and peaceful Pakistan would be given to the coming generations.
Meanwhile, talking to the elected representatives of various districts, Shahbaz Sharif said Pakistan was facing challenges like terrorism and energy crisis and the government was making round the clock efforts for resolving these problems. He said the entire nation was determined to rid the country of menace of terrorism. The chief minister said that steps taken under the National Action Plan were being implemented speedily which were yielding positive results. He said the Pak army had achieved glorious successes in operation Zarb-e-Azb. He said the whole nation was united for eliminating the scourge of terrorism and extremism. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the country will be steered out of problems and put on the road to progress and prosperity.
