Over 1,000 deaf female students to receive vocational training

DuPont, a company focused on making scientific developments with respect to global problems, in collaboration with the Family Education Services Foundation (FSEF) on Monday announced to
initiate a community outreach programme to enhance
life skills and provide vocational training to female students of the Deaf Reach School, a project of Family Education Services Foundation (FESF) in Karachi and Hyderabad.
The programme covering Karachi and Hyderabad, aimed at making young females self-sufficient as well as gain skills and knowledge which could help them overcome life and work environment obstacles, said DuPont Pakistan Operations (Pvt) Ltd Chief Executive Officer Tauqir Ahmed.
“The programme would help them integrate into the society and make a sustainable living.”
The programme would raise funds for vocational training courses focusing on sewing, tailoring, culinary arts, IT, embroidery and arts. Students would take the courses to expand their set of skills besides being trained for marketing those skills and money management, Ahmed mentioned.
FESF Director Programme Anita Florijn, said the foundation was striving to make education a reality for more than 1,000 deaf children in Pakistan.
“Our vision was established in 1998 to provide academic and vocational education to deaf children and youth, particularly in rural areas, who have little access to formal education or vocational training.”
