That knowledge of sciences, history, culture and art are truly the pursuits worth one’s while was the takeaway of the ‘Wisdom Day’ held here at the Beaconhouse Senior Branch Gulrez, an event that consolidated year-round activities aimed at fostering among students a culture of learning, says a press release.
Adorned with creative performances and punctuated by display of spontaneous wit and intelligence, the event featuring students of grades 6, 7 and 8, left audiences overawed and overwhelmed.
A Dramatic History Catwalk that traversed and depicted different eras of world history, from the Stone Ageto the Mughal dynasty to the European History enthralled those present, as children performed dressed and donned up, as variably as gods and goddesses and kings and queens and courtiers and hunters and farmers.
The event also featured a Wiz Quiz, which covered a host of disciplines such as Science, mental mathematics, hangman on microorganisms, and ‘Word shake’ vocabulary contest designed by the British Council.
Hassan Amir of grade 7 stunned the audience with diversity and universality of his knowledge by taking live questions on a variety of subjects such as the European history, current affairs, molecular biology and drug chemistry.
In the end there was a practical display of students’ project work in the shape of model exhibition, which featured 3D models, working science models and art displays, which the audience greatly appreciated.
Chief guest Nassir Kasuri, executive director of Beaconhouse (North Region), appreciated the novelty of concepts and termed the performances as ‘impressive’. Senior Mistress Sidra Qasim, in her note of thanks, lauded the hard work and creativity of her team and students.
