‘Maan tuj ko bhula bethoun tou phir jee naheen sakta
Yeh zakhm hai aisa keh jisay see naheen sakta’
In the introductory notes much has been written about the quality of Muhammad Rafique Mughal’s poetry collection ‘Paoun Talay Jannat’.
The words come to the poet like it’s just a conversation among lovers. It seems he’s just talking love. Yes, the most sacred form of love ‘Mother’s love’, which is reminiscent of the smoothness of a familiar caressing wind, and the moisture of steady rain of kind heartedness, and the wave of intense love to occupy every inch of children’ heart’s space and every particle of their mind. Mother is superior over every virtue in all stratagems of life. She symbolises perseverance and unwavering devotion to child. There is no child who can forget her sweet kisses, and unconditional love. All that a person is, or hopes to be, owes to mother. Successes in life are all due to the moral, intellectual and physical education one receives from mother. Mother helps one grow, prosper, and reach great heights. Mother is a never ending song in Muhammad Rafique Mughal’s heart. He may sometimes forget the words but he always remembers the tune: “I love my mother”.
Muhammad Rafique Mughal’s poems are natural, animate, component of an ambiance we all live within. His poetry doesn’t take much time to impress. His words are for us and of us, becoming at once a celebration of the mother’s love and also a spiritual union with the words we read. This is a gift from the poet to the waiting readers. A mother is a mark of sacrifice and has a demanding role in the life of every child. This book contains a collection of heart touching poems about mothers. These poems are very inspirational. In literature, as in life, relationships between mothers and their sons are beyond description.
While remembering his mother Muhammad Rafique Mughal celebrates the most sacred mothers from Ummul Bashar Hazrat Hawwa (Eve), Hazrat Amina, Hazrat Khadija, Hazrat Fatima tuz Zahra, Hazrat Fatima binte Asad, Hazrat Zainab binte Ali, Hazrat Umme Rubab, Hazrat Umme Laila,Hazrat Umme Farwa, Hazrat Fizza and other sacred personalities. When the poet thinks of a mother figure, he imagines someone calling out “be careful.” That’s his experience as a son, a sense of visceral protectiveness. That relationship is dense, close, loving, and enduring, such a close bond that readers enjoy his portrayal of mother so much because it’s something they have all experienced from time to time, respected their mothers for conforming to the perfect vision of saintliness. Perhaps the mother has an unsubtle voice that booms out in his life every second. In other words, he sees mother as ideal, living, breathing character with saintly virtues. The mother’s remembrance drives the poet mad, often reduces him to tears. Deep down, he knows that his writing voice is indebted to her mother. It is not just an expression of greatness of mother but an expression of the poet’s passionate love:
‘Chaheeyay kutch na mujay maan ki mohabbat kay sewa
Dil ko taskeen naheen Maan teri rahat kay sewa’
This book ‘Paoun Talay Jannat’ keeps us attentive and gives us lots to think about. In times of heavy trials and troubles and adversity, mother is the best consoler one has. She endeavours to drive away the clouds of gloom, and cause peace to revisit our hearts through her prayers.
