KARACHI: Amir Ishaque, M Huzaifa, M Abdullah, Munir Sajid, and Ibrahim Nazir moved into the semi-finals of under-18 category in Subh-e-Nau Earth Day National Tennis championship which kicked off in Islamabad on Thursday.
In the quarter-finals, Amir Ishaque beat Naeem Khan 8-2, M Huzaifa defeated Hamza Miraj 8-2, Mohammad Abdullah beat Hamza Roman 8-5, Munir Sajid thrashed Haseebullah 8-1, and Ibrahim Nazir won against Izhar 8-3.
In the final qualifying round of men’s single, Jibran beat Hasnain Mehmood 6-3, 6-2; Ikramullah got walkover against M Faisal; Mobashir Shah defeated Irham Khan 6-3, 6-3; Zaid Mujahid smashed Ahmed Murad 8-0; Raja Shahid thrashed Waqas Baig 6-1, 6-1; Saqib Umar overpowered Barkat ullah 6-3, 1-6, 7-6(7); Faraz Ali beat Naoman Ahmed 6-1, 6-3; and Kashan ul Haque won against Farhan Ulllah 6-4, 6-3.
Meanwhile, fifteen players of under-14 category have qualified for the next round. More than 150 players have confirmed their entries in this weeklong event that carries a prize purse of three hundred thousand rupees.
