KARACHI: The Indians have taken the lead in confirming participation for the IBSF World 6-Red and Teams Championship 2015 due to be staged here later this year.
According to a media release of the Pakistan Billiards & Snooker Association (PBSA) issued here on Wednesday, the Indian cue sports authorities have sent the names and passport details of their squad which will be coming over to Karachi for the twin events scheduled to be held at the Movenpick Hotel from August 6 to 15.
“We have received the first confirmation of entries for the above World Championship from the Billiards & Snooker Federation of India (BSFI) which has forwarded the passport details of the probable players and coaches from India for participation in the upcoming IBSF World 6-Red and Teams Championship for Women, Men & Masters,” the PBSA announced.
“Due to lengthy procedures in obtaining the necessary clearances from the government departments, the PBSA had requested the BSFI to send the required details of their probable players/coaches and officials, at least 60 days before the championship for submission to the Ministry of Sports Ministry and the Pakistan Sports Board. And the final selected players/team from these probable names will be sent by the BSFI after their final selection for participation in the World Championship in Karachi,” the statement added.
Besides the details of the players and coaches, the PBSA has received the passport details of the BSFI President, Capt. P.V.K. Mohan, who is also the President of the International Billiards & Snooker Federation (IBSF), along with those of the Honorary Secretary of BSFI, S. Balasubramanium.
Sourav Kothari, Brijesh Damani, Kamal Chawla, Ketan Chawla, VarunKumar Jaganathan, Varun Madan, Rahul Sachdev, Aneesh Saini, Pankaj Arjan Advani, Manan Chandra, Mohammad Faisal Khan, Dharminder Singh Lilly, Shahbaz Adil Khan, Devendra Shreekant Joshi, Sanjay Shivaji Sawant, Manoj Kumar Kothari and Subash Agarwal have been nominated for the Men’s and Masters events, while the women squad comprises of Vidya Visivanathan Pillai, Arantxa Sanchis, Neena Praveen, Suniti Damani, R. Umadevi, Neeta Vikram Sanghvi, Amee Kamani, Judy Walia Kishinani and Chitra Magimairajan with Derek Sippy and Yasin Raza Merchant having been appointed as the coaches.
