PARIS: Prize money for this year’s French Open has increased by three million euros to more than 28 million euros, the French tennis federation announced on Tuesday.
The winners of the men’s and women’s singles titles at the May 19-June 7 Grand Slam event will each pocket 1.8 million euros, 150,000 euros up on last year, out of a total pot of 28,028,600 euros.
The most significant rise in prize money - more than 20 percent - comes, as it did in 2014, for the losers of matches in the second round, third round and quarter-finals, the federation added.
