KARACHI: Due to negligence on part of the travelling agent, Pakistan Boxing Federation’s (PBF) secretary Iqbal Hussain missed the Asian Boxing Confederation’s (ASBC) general body meeting which commenced in Almaty in Kazakhstan on Saturday.
In the meeting, which will conclude on Sunday (today), ASBC is going to elect its vice-presidents. Iqbal was also set to contest the elections of the vice-president.
“It is unfortunate that I could not proceed to Almaty because of the negligence on the part of the travelling agent,” Iqbal told ‘The News’ on Saturday.
“Actually I was set to proceed to Almaty on Friday but when I went to the airport I was told by the immigration that my ticket did not carry ‘ok to board’. And that its entry had also not been made in the system,” Iqbal said.
“I then asked the travelling agent to revise the ticket for today and also warned him that he should not repeat the mistake. Again when I went to the airport to catch the Etihad airlines I was stunned when I was again told by the airport’s immigration that my ticket had not been prepared rightly,” Iqbal said.
“I am thinking of suing the travelling agent as I missed something that could have benefited the country a lot. Had I been elected as vice-president of the ASBC I could have played a vital role for the promotion of boxing in Pakistan,” Iqbal said.
