LAHORE: Secretary Auqaf and Religious Affairs Sheheryar Sultan has said there is an old link between “Khanghah” and “Madressa” which promotes the teachings of Sufi saints along with religious knowledge.
He said the PML-N government was taking steps regarding modern knowledge along with religious education in religious seminaries and distribution of laptops among talented girl and boy students of these seminaries was its clear proof.
He said the pen had been replaced with laptop in the modern age which would facilitate students to get religious and other education.
He expressed these views while addressing a laptop distribution ceremony among 400 talented girl and boy students of religious seminaries at Samaa Hall of Darbar Hazrat Data Gunj Bakhsh on Saturday. DG Auqaf and Religious Affairs Dr. Tahir Raza Bukhari, Administrator Data Darbar, Principal Jamia Hajveria Data Darbar Maulana Matloob Uzman, Sahibzada Ghulam Murtaza and a large number of girl and boy students were also present.
Secretary Auqaf said that equipping the students of religious seminaries with modern education was the responsibility of the government and distribution of laptops among talented students was a good step of the government.
He said that due to this, students of religious seminaries would not only have access to modern knowledge but their vision would also broaden and help in getting religious education. He told the media that girl and boy students, completing education from their Jamaat, were getting admission in universities for acquiring modern scientific knowledge.
Sheheryar Sultan further said the Auqaf Department had sought recommendations for bringing Jamia Hajveria at par with the model seminaries and after the permission of the federal government, the Jamia Hajveria would be upgraded to a model seminary.
He said the girl and boy students of the Jamia Hajveria Madressa got prominent achievements at the national level competitions which was satisfactory.
He said this was the only institute which was giving modern knowledge along with the traditional education.
He said the process of distribution of laptops among talented girl and boy students of religious seminaries would continue and laptops would be distributed among talented students of religious seminaries throughout the province.
