At least 601 road traffic accidents were reported to the Rescue 1122’s Provincial Monitoring Cell in all the 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours in which six lives were lost and 460 seriously injured were shifted to different hospitals of the relevant districts.
However, some 247 minor injured were provided first aid by the Rescue 1122 on the spot.
According to a data provided by the PMC, 262 drivers, 19 underage drivers, 118 pedestrians, and 333 passengers were among the injured of these road traffic accidents. The statistics show 123 RTAs were reported to Lahore Control Room, which affected 119 persons placing the Provincial Capital at the top of the list followed by 59 RTAs in Faisalabad with 76 victims and Multan at third position with 52 RTAs and 52 victims.
Details further show that total 713 persons were affected by the road traffic crashes including 591 males and 122 females, while the age group of the affected persons showed that 104 were under 18 years of age, 461 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 148 injured were reported above 40 years. According to the data, 471 motorbikes, 72 auto rickshaws, 61 motorcars, 25 vans, 26 passenger buses, 17 trucks and 55 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving carts were involved in the road accidents.
