KARACHI: As the political atmosphere of Karachi is at a boiling point due to elections in the National Assembly’s constituency NA 246, there is no administrative head of the District Central where the constituency falls.
The Sindh government has been running the affairs of the most sensitive district of Karachi Central without a deputy commissioner (DC) for the last one month.By-elections of NA 246 Azizabad are scheduled to be held on April 23 within the limits of this district but the Sindh government is showing its non-serious attitude by not appointing the DC.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Sindh government has transferred Dr Saif Rehman, the last DC of District Central to Balochistan government, and from then no DC was posted.According to the Sindh government sources, Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has proposed the names of Afzal Zaidi and Haji Ahmed Memon, Additional Commissioner Karachi, for the post but till the date no one has been posted there yet.
