Staffers of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto (SMBB) Accident Emergency and Trauma Centre on Saturday staged a protest outside Karachi Press Club for the regularisation of their jobs and the release of salaries for the last eight months.
The protesters carried banners and placards inscribed with different slogans calling for regularising the lower staff, releasing funds for salaries and ensuring justice for medical staff and others.
The nurses, paramedical staff, ward boys, technicians, computer operators and other lower staff had not been regularised despite the passage of two years.
The staffers have also been deprived of salaries for eight months, due to which they have been facing severe financial problems.
They said the administration regularised doctors, but nurses and other support staff are still working on a contract basis.
Sindh Nurses Association General-Secretary Atta Hussain Rajpar demanded of the Sindh government to regularise the nurses and other support staff. He said funds for the salaries of the staff should be released immediately; otherwise, the protests would be held throughout the province.
