Sindh border to be sealed if its water share cut: Khursheed

ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly (NA) Syed Khursheed Shah Wednesday led walkout from the assembly saying Sindh is facing a grave water crisis.

“There is no water in Karachi. A human being cannot remain alive without water. Punjab link canal be closed and water be supplied to Sindh,” he said.

He said, “If we (Sindhis) are not provided water, we will seal the Sindh border. We will do so to save Pakistan. We are fighting for the rights of Sindh.” Shah said that immediate measures were needed to be taken to meet water shortage in Sindh province, saying the situation had further deteriorated since Punjab opened the link canal.

He questioned as to why the federal government was silent when the Sindh province was getting barren and Sindhi farmers had been forced to come out on roads.

Nawaz Yousuf Talpur said the people of Sindh demand their rights adding that IRSA should take notice of opening the link canal by the Punjab. With these remarks, the PPP members walked out of the House. After walkout of the PPP members against shortage of water in Sindh and alleged injustice in distribution of water among the provinces, the chair adjourned proceedings till Thursday morning.
