PHC seals 2,725 businesses of quacks

LAHORE: The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) has closed down 2,725 businesses of quacks across the province.

According to a press release issued here on Sunday, 13 teams of the PHC, accompanied by the officials of the district administrations and police, visited different parts of Punjab and checked 7,854 treatment centres, and found 2,725 of them being run by quacks, which were sealed immediately. During the last week only, 484 businesses of quacks were sealed out of the 1,572 treatment centres visited in 13 districts i.e. Lahore, Attock, Rahimyar Khan, Multan, Gujrat, Sialkot, Pakpattan, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Muzaffargarh and Sargodha. The maximum number of quacks’ businesses was sealed in Kasur. As many as 48 businesses of quacks were sealed in Sargodha, 47 in Faisalabad, 44 in Muzaffargarh, 41 in Rahimyar Khan, 38 in Gujrat, 37 in Multan and 33 each in Pakpattan and Sialkot. So far the PHC has closed more than 12,500 businesses of quacks.
