Expressing concern over the situation he emphasised on early resolution of the conflict for stability of the region.
He was talking to Ambassador of the European Union and Head of the European Union Delegation to Pakistan Lars Gunnar Wigemark here on Saturday.
The president emphasised that Pakistan attached great importance to its relations with the European Union and highlighted the great value Pakistan placed on its strategic partnership with it.
He said we enjoy excellent relations with all the 28 EU member countries and highlighted Pakistan’s interest in the continued engagement with the EU beyond 2017.
He also underscored the need for both sides to work on a framework to carry this mutually beneficial relationship forward.
Partnership between Pakistan and the EU is marked by shared democratic values, principles of mutual respect, trust and cooperation, he added.
The president underlined Pakistan’s keen anticipation of the convening of the Third Pakistan EU summit in Brussels this year and expressed the hope that the summit would be productive for cementing the bonds further.
