The bullet-riddled body of a 40-year-old man was found from a house near Football Ground in Steel Town on Thursday. According to Bin Qasim police SHO Hakim Ali, the deceased was identified as Hazoor Bux and shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem.
The medico-legal examiner’s report stated that a single bullet to his kidney caused his death. SHO Ali further said the victim’s nephew Waseem told police that he was a resident of Jacobabad and had to come to Karachi two days ago. Waseem claimed that his uncle committed suicide over a domestic matter. However, police took him into custody on suspicion and began an investigation.
Separately, a man suffocated to death while another fell unconscious when smoke from a generator filled up inside the room of a house in Labour Colony, SITE. SITE-B police station SHO Fayyaz Qureshi said both men were rushed to a private healthcare centre where doctors pronounced one of them dead and admitted the other.
The deceased was identified as Javed while the identity of the other victim could not be ascertained by the time this report was filed. According to the SHO, the two men were masons who lived in Korangi. They had come to Labour Town to meet their contractor in the day, but since the meeting took a long time, they decided to stay over at his house because they didn’t want to leave for Korangi in the late night. Their bodies were handed over to their families for burial.
