South Punjab to get more development projects: CM
KHANEWAL: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Monday said the Zardari-Niazi alliance was formed against the PML-N to destroy the country.
The alliance emerged after the failure to deliver in their respective provinces in providing good governance and relief to the people, he said. “On the other hand, the PML-N has delivered a lot in the last five-year rule under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif making south, central and northern parts of Punjab one of the most advanced and developed areas in the country,” said the chief minister and promised to launch more projects in southern Punjab. Addressing a public meeting at Khanewal Railway Ground, he said the country would not experience hours-long load shedding in coming days according to the promise and commitment made by the PML-N.
He said Zardari had destroyed and looted Sindh and failed to bring peace in Karachi, while Imran always narrated tales at Qissa Khawani Bazaar. Imran went to mountains when Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was facing flood and dengue, Shahbaz added.
“Imran speaks lie round the clock and he is the father of lies. He has been involved in conspiring against the country by staging sit-in Islamabad,” said Shahbaz, who is also the PML-N president.
He said Imran levelled unfounded charges against him about corruption in the Metro Bus project, but he refused to appear before the court to prove the allegations after being summoned. If the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa elected the PML-N government there, he would make the province as most advanced and developed in the country, he promised.
The chief minister, who inaugurated 92 kilometres-long Khanewal-Lodhran double carriageway built at a cost of Rs 22 billion and different projects, including installation of CT scan machine and hepatitis clinic at the DHQ Hospital, said if the people of Khanewal expressed confidence in the PML-N again, the party would establish medical and technical colleges besides a new hospital and a campus of Bahauddin Zakaria University in Jahanian and give tehsil status to Abdul Hakim. The construction of a new prison in Khanewal had already started, he said.
