Weekend gets a rainy start
Islamabad : Saturday got off to a rainy start to the relief of the residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi agitated by the rising temperatures.
It began raining heavily in the morning but later, the rain became light lasting for quite some time. It also drizzled afterwards.
In the ensuing daytime, the weather played hide and seek by being mildly sunny on one occasion and windy and cloudy on the other.
With the weather being pleasant, the people thronged public places, especially parks and picnic spots in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Some even drove to Murree hills to spend the weekend.
According to the weathermen, the rainfall was caused by a westerly wave, which is likely to stay put for the next three days promising the 30 degree centigrade temperature on average.
During the last 24 hours, Islamabad received 15 millimeters rain in Golra area, five millimeters in Saidpur and four in Bokra, while 15 millimeters rainfall was reported in Rawalpindi.
The Met Office forecast rain-thundershower with gusty winds and dust storm at isolated places in KP, FATA, Punjab's Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Multan, DG Khan, Faisalabad and Sahiwal divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Quetta, Zhob and Kalat divisions during the next two days. It said hot and dry weather was expected elsewhere in the country during the period.
