CNS Golf tees off today

ISLAMABAD: Three-day Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Golf springs into action at the Margalla Green from Friday with organizers expecting over 300 entries for four different categories.

Cdre Imran Nasir unveiled silent features of the three-day event at the venue on Thursday. “The event, that began 11 years back, is now an annual feature of the golfing calendar. We have come a long way following first event even in 2007, Now the CNS Golf has become annual feature with best amateurs from all around the country eagerly waiting to participate in the event. This time around we are expecting over three hundred entries for the event,” he said.

Besides the amateur net, amateur gross, senior net and gross, ladies and juniors will also be seen in action. “The stage is set to hold the event at one of the most picturesque courses around. Besides the competition for the main trophy, seniors, juniors and ladies will also be seen in action during the next four days.”

This time around the organisers have divided amateur net category in two different categories. Top golfers having handicap from scratch to seven will be seen in action separately from those having handicap from seven to 12. However, the ultimate winner would be the one who scores the best net following 54 holes.

“The winner will be judged on the best net score over three days of competition.”Apart from the main trophy prizes will also be distributed amongst best amateur gross winner. Same will be the case with ladies, seniors and juniors category.

Seniors having the handicap of 18 and below are eligible to compete in the event while junior match that will be played on 18 holes will see golfers 16 year and below with the handicap of 24 and below flexing their muscles. Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mehmood Abbasi will be guest of honour on the prize distribution ceremony to be held on Sunday.
