Woman injured by in-laws in critical condition
LAHORE: A 27-year-old married woman was injured allegedly by her in-laws in the Shahdara area on Wednesday.
The victim was identified as Fozia, wife of Shaukat of Majeed Park, Shahdara. In her statement, the victim said she was married to Shaukat two years ago who went abroad for employment. She said that her in-laws started harassing her, upon which, she had to go back to her parents’ home. She said she received a call from her husband two days ago, advising her to go back to her in-laws and live there after tendering apology to them. Following her husband’s advice, the victim went back, and, according to Fozia, her mother-in-law Naseem and brothers-in-law Ikram and Javed sprinkled petrol on her and set her on fire. As a result of which, she suffered almost 90 percent burns. She was admitted to hospital where she is reported to be critical. Police have registered a case against her in-laws.
