Project runway
April 26, 2018
This refers to the letter ‘Airport costs’ (Apr 23) by Malik Tariq Ali. As far as the two parallel runways at the new Islamabad international airport are concerned, their proximity to each other – only 200 metres apart – raises concerns for the safe landing and takeoff of two aircrafts and defeats the very purpose for which they have been built.
Even though there are two runways, for all practical purposes they will function as one. Those who have allowed this to happen should provide an explanation to this debt-ridden nation for committing this blunder.
