Three persons, including a couple who contracted a love marriage in Khyber Agency and arrived in Karachi last week, were gunned down in separate incidents on Tuesday.

Sher Ameen, 22, and his wife Bismeena, 21, were found shot dead in a rented house in Madina Town in Shah Latif police limits. The double murder took place early in the morning. After being called to the scene, police carried the dead to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortems.

The couple were originally from Aqa Khel, Khyber Agency, where they fell in love and wanted to marry. However, their families disapproved, so they fled their hometown on April 19 after solemnising Nikha and came to Karachi.

After reaching Karachi, Ameen and Bismeena rented a house from Rahim, said police. Witnesses said unidentified men barged into the house, opened fire on the couple and escaped. Police found spent bullet shells of a 9mm pistol and sent them to the forensic division.

Investigators said the double murder seemed to be linked to the couple’s love marriage. They found the CNICs of the victims and their Nikhanama. Police have detained Rahim, owner of the house, for questioning.

Man kills son

Muhammad Israel killed his 25-year-old son, Wajid, at his house in Poona Wala Apartments in Majeed Colony, Keamari. Superintendent of Police (SP) Arif Aziz said police took the body to hospital for a postmortem. Wajid was the younger son of Israel, who runs a juice centre near his residence.

The two used to bicker over minor issues, and the father often scolded his son for not reaching the shop on time. On Tuesday morning, when Wajid again failed to show up at the shop because he was asleep, his father became angry and returned home.

He awakened his son and the two exchanged heated arguments. Israel drew a pistol, shot his son and escaped. SP Arif Aziz said police had launched a hunt and the culprit would soon be behind bars.
