LAHORE: Drafting of players for the upcoming Pakistan Super Kabaddi League took place here at a local hotel on Monday. The tournament, starting from May 1, has 16 international players from seven countries with a total of 110 national players featuring in the league. In the first edition of the league, a total of 10 teams will fight for the trophy. Shehzad Roy, the owner of the Kashmir team, said it will encourage healthy activities in the country apart from promoting sports and bring new talent to the fore. The league will be held at Punjab Stadium, Lahore and will conclude on May 10. Strawberry sports’ management company are the host of the inaugural edition of the country’s own League. This franchised based league has teams representing different cities of Pakistan, which picked players through draft. “Competition will be start from May 2 while the opening ceremony of the league will be held on May 1,” he added. The players from ten countries, Sri Lanka, Iran, Iraq, Kenya, Malaysia, Japan, Bangladesh and Kenya featured in the draft, who will represent eight franchised based teams representing Lahore, Multan Gujrat, Karachi, Islamabad, Gwadar, Faisalabad and Peshawar.
