ATC sends Rao Anwar to jail till May 2
KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) sent former SSP Malir Rao Anwar to jail on judicial remand till May 2 in connection with the murder case of Naqeebullah Mehsud. Rao Anwar and co-accused were presented in the court. Investigation Officer Dr Rizwan told the court during the hearing that investigation had not been completed from the accused. He requested the court to send Rao Anwar to jail on judicial remand. Dr Rizwan, while seeking one week time from the court for filing challan of the case, took the stance that the JIT had been set up to investigate the accused and the final report would be presented in the light of the JIT recommendations. The court, while ordering for sending Rao Anwar on judicial remand till May 2, extended the judicial remand of the co-accused. Rao Anwar was in the police custody on physical remand for the last one month. Later, while replying a question by the media outside the court, Rao Anwar said that everything would become clear through the JIT. “I will tell everybody either the encounters were fake or not. Let the challan of the case be submitted; everything will become known to everyone,” he added. He said: “I will tell everything later on.” —Online
