Improper drainage system in Shah Faisal Colony calls for the immediate attention of the authorities. Clogged drains have disturbed the flow of water because of which the entire area is encircled by standing water. Contaminated water acts as breeding ground for mosquitoes and other bacteria that spread different serious diseases among residents. The ineffective drainage system is the main reason for the troubles that residents face during rainy season. Because of standing water, vehicular traffic comes to a standstill.
In addition, the standing water also takes a toll on daily activities of residents. People remain in their homes. Van drivers refuse to pick students from their doorsteps because the standing water makes it difficult for them to drive the vehicle in the area. Also, dirty water enters houses as well, leaving a revolting stench in homes. Whilst residents are facing such serious issues, the local government is nowhere to be seen. It is time the government took charge of its responsibility and carried out steps to deal with the problem.
