Trade deals with Russia next week

KARACHI: The roadmap for multi-sector cooperation between the province of Sindh and Saint Petersburg, Russia's second-largest city would be decided through agreements expected to be inked next week during a tentative visit of a high-level delegation from the Eurasian country, an official said on Thursday.

“Russian companies are interested in the trade of leather garments, home textile goods, fashion garments, and cotton yarns with Pakistan on top of taking advantage from the country’s expertise and skills in textile sector,” Naheed Memon, Chairperson of Sindh Board of Investment (SBI) said in a statement.

“The Eurasian country intends to open the doors of its markets for the products and services of Pakistan.”

Memon said the delegation is expected to visit Pakistan on the occasion of 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“The visit is continuation of the ‘Sindh-Saint Petersburg Agreement of Mutual Cooperation’ signed in October 2017, in the Russia,” she added.

The SBI chairperson said the delegation would also hold business-to-business meetings with investors from Sindh on April 24. Russian companies working in the fields of textile, energy, oil and gas, light industries, pharmaceutical, water treatment, aviation, food and other sectors would be part of the delegation.
