Pak hockey team named for Asian qualifiers
ISLAMABAD: A nine-member Pakistan hockey team along with four stand-bys has been announced for the Asian qualifiers for the Youth Olympics to be held in Bangkok (Thailand) from April 25-29.
It is pertinent to mention that the hockey event of the Youth Olympics is played on 5-a-side format.The top two teams from the 11 sides competing in the qualifiers will represent Asia at the Youth Olympics scheduled in Buenos Aires, Argentina from October 6-18.
Pakistan won the silver medal in the last Youth Olympics after failing to crack Australian dominance in the final.Squad: Awais Arshad (goalkeeper), Waqas Ahmed (captain), Ali Raza, Mohibullah (vice captain), Murtaza Yaqoob, Junaid Rasool, Mohsin Khan, Zulqarnain, Hammad Anjum.Standbys: Muhammad Abduallah, Abdur Rehman, Awais Amin, Abrar Ahmed.
