Three labourers killed, 6 hurt as mill roof collapses

FAISALABAD: Three labourers were killed while six others sustained injuries when a textile mill roof collapsed after gas generator explosion on Maqbool Road on Monday.

The labourers were busy working when the gas generator exploded and the roof collapsed. As a result, Arslan of Zulfiqar Colony, Zulfiqar Ahmad of Sharifpura and Muhammad Ahmad of Makkuana were killed on the spot. The injured were identified as Muhammad Umair, Arshad Mehmood, Muhammad Sabir, Muhammad Awais, Muhammad Akram and Zeeshan. Meanwhile, DC Salman Ghani has constituted an inquiry committee headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Mian Aftab Ahmad to conduct an inquiry into the incident. The committee would submit its report to the DC within next 24 hours.

MAN FOUND DEAD: A man was found dead in his residential quarter in mysterious circumstances here on Monday. Usman Yousaf, an employee in the Ayub Agricultural Research Institute, was found dead in his residential quarter. Police have started investigation.

Five held for decanting: Police have arrested five shopkeepers for decanting in various parts of the district during past 12 hours. A police spokesman said here on Monday that police raided illegal LPG refilling points and arrested Nafees from Jhumra Road, Abid Hussain from Kamalpur, Imran and Ashfaq from Chak 31/JB and Owais from Chak 59/JB while decanting.
