The Saami Brothers Qawwal on Friday enthralled a select audience at the launch of HIVE [Karachi], a joint venture of Pakistan Youth Alliance (PYA) and Khudi Pakistan, dedicated to training, research, resource development and social innovation to counter extremism.
Ustad Naseeruddin Saami one of Pakistan’s leading classical vocalists said Qawwali was a tool to promote peace, inter-faith harmony and provided an alternative to religious orthodoxy. Saami Brothers Qawwal of the 705-year-old Gharana of Qawwali - the Qawwal Bachon Ka Gharana of Delhi- gave a riveting performance. The event, ‘Sulh-e-Kul’, was attended by civil society representatives, academics, journalists and dignitaries.
