IG directs tight security at worship places

LAHORE: Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Arif Nawaz Khan has directed the police officers to pay special attention to the security of worship places of Muslims and minorities, courts, educational institutions and other important buildings and installments.

He expressed these views while addressing a video link conference of all RPOs and DPOs of the province. Additional IG Operations Amir Zulfiqar Khan and DIG Traffic Farooq Mazhar were also present.

The IG directed the DPOs to devise a security plan in the light of security audit reports of Central Police Office. He said that on the occasion of Shabb e Miraj, the Lahore CCPO, all RPOs and DPOs should focus the security plan and ensure deployment of snipers on the roofs of mosques and Imambargahs. Moreover, commandos should be preferred for patrolling such areas. He said the crackdown on the proclaimed offenders in cases of dacoity, murder, ransom and other heinous crimes should be boosted up in all districts of Punjab. He said the accused of women and child abuses should be investigated on scientific basis. He said all the IT based projects like the front desk should be monitored, he added.

He said that escape from police custody and death due to police torture would not be tolerated at all. He directed all the DPOs to take action against firing into the air and send recommendations to Home Department for cancellation of arms licences of the culprits. He said that hardened criminals and A category criminals should be arrested with comprehensive steps.
