CDA declares I-17 as medical city

Islamabad: The Board of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) which met with chairman Usman Akhtar Bajwa in the chair, decided to declare Sector I-17 as medical city for provision latest facilities in the field of health there.

The CDA Board approved a summary moved by Member Estate Kushhal Khan to open Sector I-17 for provision of latest medical facilities. According to the summary, the sector I-17 will have a 4000-bed hospital along with Organ Transplant Centre, Medical College, Nursing College and other facilities.

The CDA Board also approved allocation of land to the National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) to be run by medical corps of the Pakistan Army.It may be pointed out here that in January, 2009 the CDA Board had decided to open sector I-17 for shifting industries from sector I-9 to I-10 there. But now the previous decision has been changed.

The board meeting also approved highest bids for commercial plots which were recently offered for open auction. The auction fetched over Rs7 billion during three-day exercise.
