Probe into Abida murder case broadens
FAISALABAD: Broadening the investigation into Abida Ahmed murder case, police have gathered the mobile phones data of 16 boys and 34 girl students of the GC University Faisalabad.
So far, not a single class fellow of the victim has been arrested in this murder case due to lack of evidence. According to reports, IG Punjab Arif Nawaz ordered the Faisalabad police to forthwith arrest the assailants.
Meanwhile, the GCU Faisalabad students Wednesday staged demonstration at Zila Council Chowk to register their protest against non-arrest of the culprits involved in the murder cases of Abida Ahmad and minor girl Mubashara of Jaranwala. They blocked the main road leading to District Courts and University of Agriculture Faisalabad for more than an hour, bringing the traffic to a standstill. They raised slogans against the police and demanded immediate arrest and trial of the culprits in the Anti-Terrorism Court. Later, they dispersed peacefully on police’s assurance of early arrest of killers. It is to be noted that Abida Ahmed, student of MA English Literature at the GC University, Faisalabad, was abducted at gunpoint by some unidentified persons a week ago when she was waiting for a public transport outside the university campus. The abductors allegedly murdered her and threw her body at a deserted place in Jaranwala.
