Islamabad: Pakistan National Council of the Arts and Embassy of the Republic of Turkey joined hands to screen film My Father and Son from 2013 in PNCA on Friday. Mr. Jamal Shah, Director General PNCA and Ambassador Mr. Mustafa Yurdakul graced the Occasion and spoke about close relations between two countries which now would include films.More films from Turkey would now be shown at PNCA.

Films have been important part of Turkish urban culture since late 1890 when films came to Turkey with French one-minute short films. Today Turkish films are shown in Arab world, Europe, United States and many other countries. Many Turkish films have won international awards and have been screened in film festivals around the world. In our case, Turkish TV dramas, dubbed in Urdu, have been enormously popular.

My Father and Son, directed by Cagan Irmak, takes us back to 1980 which was a difficult year for Turkey in politics. A family is badly affected by these events. Our central character Sadik, has studied journalism and not gone into agriculture and worked on family farm as his father wanted. What's more, Sadik goes into university politics, again against the wishes of his father.
