Services Hospital: 14 doctors, 20 guards booked for murder
LAHORE: A man expired in Services Hospital on Tuesday, a few hours after he was severely tortured by the hospital doctors and guards.
Victim Suneel served in the patrolling police. On the day of the incident, he took his sister to the Services Hospital for delivery where a woman doctor, Saira, slapped his sister when she complained of undue delay in accommodating her. Suneel got infuriated and slapped the doctor in the same fashion.
Upon which, the doctor called her colleagues and security guards who beat him up to their satisfaction. As a result, Suneel’s condition went critical and was admitted to the same hospital’s emergency where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police have removed the body to morgue for autopsy and registered a murder case against 14 young doctors, including the woman doctor, and 20 guards and 10 ward boys under various sections, including 302 PPC.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the tragic incident and sought a report from the health minister and secretary. He expressed grief over the death of the man and extended sympathies to the bereaved family.
He has also ordered an inquiry into the incident and said that legal action be initiated against the persons responsible. Youth dies: A 21-year-old youth died when his speeding car rammed into an electricity pole in the Nawab Town area on Tuesday.
Victim Adnan Sultan was on his way when his speeding car went straight into an electricity pole, resulting in his death. Police handed over the body to his heirs. Elite Force: Anti-Terrorism Provincial Minister Ayub Khan Gadhi has said that Elite Force's brave personnel are doing public service with the passion of dutifulness.
He expressed these views while addressing the passing-out parade of 19th basic recruit batch at Colonel Shujah Khanzada Parade Ground at Elite Training Centre, Bedian. He said that despite scarcity of resources, the personnel of Elite Force had ensured safety to the properties and lives of people, and set an example of bravery and professionalism. He said steps were being taken with comprehensive strategies for upgradation of the Elite Force and the training centre in accordance with the changing needs of the time.
Additional IG Operations Aamir Zulfiqar Khan, DIG Welfare Waseem Ahmed Sial, Elite Training Centre Commandant Parvez Iqbal were also present. The Elite Training Centre commandant said that elite training school had rendered its services to more than 40,000 officers and personnel since its establishment.
He said that in the 19th batch overall 1,379 personnel had participated who had been imparted essential and best training during their 24 weeks training course and 903 personnel had passed out in which 215 personnel of Prison Police were also included. For showing extraordinary performance, prizes and certificates were given away to the personnel named Naveed Ahmed, Muhammad Akhter, Muhammad Qaisar, Muhammad Bilal, Khurrum Shehzad, Hafiz Babar Ali, Maryam Fatima, Qamar Shehzadi, Aiman Siddique and Maria Riaz.
