IHC dismisses Sharjeel Khan’s petition
ISLAMABAD: Justice Aamer Farooq of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday dismissed a petition of batsmen Sharjeel Khan, who had challenged five-year ban on him from all forms of cricket by a Pakistan Cricket Board’s tribunal.
Sharjeel was banned in August last year for his role in spot-fixing during the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Sharjeel then assailed the PCB’s tribunal decision before the IHC.IHC’s bench, however, dismissed his petition due to want of jurisdiction as argued by PCB’s counsel Tafazzul Rizvi and deputy attorney general (DAG) Raja Khalid Mehmood.
The DAG said the cricketer was awarded sentence in Lahore and PCB’s Head Office too is in Lahore. Therefore, IHC has no jurisdiction in this matter and this case should have been contested in Lahore.
