The morgue at Jinnah Hospital was packed to capacity on Sunday due to shifting of bodies of blast victims of Youhanabad, which created a lot of problems for other families.
The morgue consists of 14 chillers, which had to be vacated to accommodate the bodies of the blast victims. Therefore, the hospital administration advised relatives of other people to go to mortuaries of other hospitals to keep their bodies.
Besides, the relatives of the blast victims also protested and raised slogans against the police for inappropriate treatment and demanded the morgue employees to hand over bodies of their loved ones without postmortem. Later, the hospital administration handed over the bodies to their relatives after legal formalities.
nurse, husband die: A staff nurse of Lahore General Hospital (LGH), Ambreen Ubaid, and with her spouse Ubaid died during a deadly suicide attack on a church in Youhanabad on Sunday. However, the couple’s three-year old daughter survived. Ambreen Ubaid had been inducted as a staff nurse on ad hoc basis at LGH on October 4, 2011, but she was later appointed on a contract basis on March 17, 2014, after a nurses’ strike last year. The family went to the church to attend Sunday prayers and died on the spot as a result of a suicide blast. However, their three-year-old daughter miraculously survived and received minor injuries.
