Establishment role must be limited for democracy: Fazl
KABIRWALA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, MNA, has said a particular lobby played an important role in the recently held Senate elections. Addressing an annual ceremony, organised in connection with Khatam-e-Bukhari Sharif here on Monday, he said that the establishment’s role would have to be curtailed for strengthening democracy in the country. Fazl said the anti-state elements wanted to create chaos in the country. He said his party wouldnot allow any other system to prevail in Pakistan which is against the religion as the country was created in the name of Islam.
He said ulema would have to come out of their hujras to safeguard the religious norms. He said madrasas are forts of religious forces and no one would be allowed to cast an evil eye on them.
Fazl said Pakistan should not take any external pressure on the Kashmir issue. He urged the government to implement the national agenda instead of acting on orders of their foreign rulers. He said the entire nation was experiencing the fallout of the wrong policies of former military ruler General Pervez Musharraf.
The JUI-F chief said all political and religious forces would have to join hands to get rid of terrorism completely. He said Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal had become functional and its office-bearers would be elected in the next meeting of the MMA. Various other speakers addressed the ceremony also.
