Dr Bashir gets Pride of Performance award

PESHAWAR: Professor Dr Bashir Ahmad, a meritorious professor and Dean Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences, University of Peshawar, has been given the Pride of Performance award by the government of Pakistan.

Dr Bashir Ahmad has supervised 28 PhDs and more than 50 MPhil scholars in the field of Biotechnology and Microbiology.

He has more than 160 ISI indexed publications and 40 indigenous HEC recognized papers. He has four patents and has written one book. Besides, he has more than 100 citations in the international journals.

He has successfully completed five research projects of Higher Education Commission, three of the Directorate of Science & Technology, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and two of the Relief International.

He is currently heading a research project of the Higher Education Commission worth Rs.8.0 million.

Talking to The News, Dr Bashir Ahmad said that he was the youngest person in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa when he was made the meritorious professor in 2013.

He said that he was happy that the government acknowledged his services in science and technology. He added that he had produced the highest PhDs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Dr Bashir Ahmad belongs to an educated family from Charsadda district. His wife is also a professor at the Department of Pharmacy in the University of Peshawar.

He said that he had received the best teacher award on the basis of his research and contribution to science and was receiving the research productivity award for the last 10 years.

He said that he believed in hard work and had instilled the same spirit in his children who were also position holders, adding, his performance had earned him friendship of some outstanding individuals while at the same time few individuals were jealous of his performance.
