TANK: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Fata chief organiser, Dost Mohammad Mehsud, paid glowing tributes to noted revolutionary poet Habib Jalib on his 25th death anniversary and demanded PTI chairman Imran Khan to direct the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to include his poetry in curriculum and syllabus of educational institutions.

He said Pakistan desperately needed a firebrand poet like Habib Jalib to highlight and protect the rights of downtrodden nationalities like the tribal Pakhtuns and other marginalised nationalities of the country who had been fighting for their basic rights since independence and faced mass persecution at the hands of the rulers.

The PTI leader said that Habib Jalib’s poetry taught us to resist the forces of oppression and render sacrifices for the rule of law, justice and democracy. He demanded the PTI chairman to direct Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister to include the poetry collections and chapters on the life and political struggle of this revolutionary poet in the educational curriculum in KP to inculcate the traits of resistance, political consciousness and the will to stand up against tyranny among the students.

Furthermore, he called, for extending financial support from the KP government to the family members of Habib Jalib who are going through hard times due to financial worries. He called for translating the poetic work of Jalib into Pashto language for better understanding. Dost Mohammad Mehsud called upon PTI Fata workers to hold special prayers for late Habib Jalib and throw light on his political and intellectual struggle to better understanding his teachings.
