Rawalpindi :The commuters have raised voice against the increase of the transport fares by the local public transporters without waiting for the issuance of the official notification in this respect.
Zahid Iqbal, a commuter, said that the transporters are charging extra fares despite the fact that the concerned authorities has not made any official statement regarding increase in fares of the public transport vehicles.
The conductors and the commuters were seen exchanging harsh words with latter demanding presentation of official notification related to increase in fares. Mohsin Raza, another commuter, said no one can increase the transport fares on the basis of the news items so the transporters have no right to demand extra money from the commuters.
It is pertinent to mention here that the common people have become victim of price hike and official/unofficial increase in the transport fares time and again in the recent past.
Shahid Abbasi, a transporter, insisted that the decision has been taken to increase the transport fares but when asked about the concern of the commuters he said there are many who just need an excuse to create drama for the sake of nothing.
