SZABMU may get NIH land to develop campus
Islamabad: There is a likelihood that the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU), Islamabad, which currently functions at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), G-8, will get land on the National Institute of Health (NIH) premises in Chak Shahzad to develop its campus.
The SZABMU and PIMS merged in 2013 through an act of parliament after the former's establishment by the last PPP government were recently separated through legislation. However, the university continues to operate on the PIMS premises for not having own campus.
The issue came up for discussion during a recent meeting of the Senate Functional Committee on Government Assurances. The Capital Administration and Development Division officials told participants that the SZABMU required 100 acres of land to develop the campus.
