ISLAMABAD: Balochistan bagged eight gold, two silver and one bronze medal to finish on top in the 9th JKA National Karate Championship here at the Pakistan Sports Complex, says a press release.
Fata bagged second position followed by Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan.The championship was organised by the Japan Karate Association Pakistan in collaboration with the Pakistan Sports Board and supported by the JICA Alumni Association of Pakistan.
Muqsit Ali of Balochistan took first position in individual kata while Fida Muhammad was second and Abdullah Ahmed third.
Islamabad’s trio of Aamir Mehboob, Ubaidullah and Faizan clinched the top position in team kata. Teams from Balochistan and Punjab were second and third, respectively.The team kumite gold went to Balochistan. They were followed by Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
As many as 150 players from all over the country took part in the two-day event. Medals, shields and certificates were awarded to the participants.Deputy Chief of Mission Embassy of Japan Takasha Harada was the chief guest on the final day. Other guests included Syed Feroz Shah, Irfan Siddique, Syed Ahmed Ali Shah, Nadeem Azher Lone and Ghulam Taqi Khan Bosan.
